Our History
12th century to the 15th century: The Château was the property of the Augerville-Beaumont family
1452: Jacques Coeur, Minister of Finance during the reign of King Charles 7th, bought the Château but he probably never came to Augerville
1508 à 1525: Marie Coeur, his grand-grand-daughter, and her husband, Eustache Lhuillier, undertook the renovation of the village, the church and the feudal castle
End of the 16th century, beginning of the 17th century: subsequent owners allowed the domain to fall into ruin
1644: Jean Perrault bought and restored the Château. He also built two outbuildings: the stables and the coach-house.
1825: Pierre Antoine Berryer bought the Château and carried out important developments allowing the first archaeological discoveries of Gallo-Roman sarcophagi. He also held grand receptions for many illustrious guests.
In the following years, the Château changed hands many times before falling again into disrepair.
After 1914: the front of the Château was restored, the river diverted to the moat and the surrounding area decorated with formal gardens.
The main courtyard was rebuilt with, as it is said, 100 000 paving stones removed at the time of the demolition of Paris.
1919: Félix Mouton, a Paris industrialist restored the Château to its former glory with carved woodwork, marble columns, a tennis court and a fishpond.
1926: Mrs Belmont, an American billionaire, bought the Château and completely changed the interior decoration. The water from the moat was used to fill the ponds, the courtyard was enclosed with a crenellated wall. Mrs Belmont also created a bowling alley in a lodge in the grounds, the first one in France.
1933: The Château was sold to a Swiss company. The main shareholder, a certain « Doctor » Kopp, was a German chemist and also a Wehrmacht Colonel. He lived in the Château and was well known in the village before being found guilty of arms trafficking and dealing in heroin.
The following owner had the bizarre notion of turning the entire estate into a leisure park, but the mayor of the village succeeded in getting the outbuildings and the front of the Château classified by the Historic Monuments.
In 1990, a Japanese company bought the domain and created the golf course.
The current owner bought the Château d’Augerville in 1997, has made improvements to the golf course and has transformed the Château into a hotel in 2006. It’s in 2015 that the Atelier restaurant, the SPA, the Chocolate Boutique as well as two new meeting rooms have been created were the farm of the Château used to be located.
